Roof Basket & Hitch Basket Product Comparison
You buy a vehicle to fit your family, but sometimes you need to haul a little bit more. Luckily WeatherTech has two hardworking cargo-carrying options that allow you to expand your vehicle’s potential — Roof Basket and Hitch Basket. Say goodbye to the days of picking and choosing what to bring on your trip because it won’t all fit. And, you won’t have to borrow a friend’s truck to move oversized items from your storage space. We’ll show you how you can use one or both of these American-made solutions to amp up your hauling capabilities.
Roof Basket
Packing for road trips is always a challenge. No matter how carefully you plan, you always end up with extra bags that don’t quite fit. You can cram them in around the backseat passengers or stack them up to the ceiling and block your back window, but who wants to travel like that? Make your experience more enjoyable and relocate extra luggage and oversized items to Roof Basket. With its open design, you aren’t limited by the size dimensions of a cargo box, and it provides easy access to your gear when loading and unloading during your trip.
It’s made from high-strength plastic that won’t rust, chip or corrode over time, ensuring it lasts even beyond the life of your car. It’s available in two size options with optional length extenders to customize to your vehicle. The large size (50.1"L x 40.2"W) is perfect for sedans and compact SUVs while the XL version (50.1"L x 52"W) is ideal for larger vehicles. One or two length extenders can be added to each size for an additional 9.4" in length per extender. It mounts to vehicle crossbars with different spacing and mounting points, making it versatile enough to switch between vehicles, or add the optional extenders, as your needs change.
Roof Basket holds up to 175 lbs., making it ideal for oversized duffels, beach chairs, suitcases, sleeping bags, camping gear and more. Travel in comfort and enjoy extra space inside your vehicle with your luggage stored out of the way on the roof of the car.
Hitch Basket
Lifting heavy or bulky items into your vehicle’s cargo space can be a struggle – not to mention hard on your back if you don’t lift properly. If you need to transport oversized equipment, such as lawn mowers or snowblowers, they won’t fit into the back of most vehicles. Besides, you don’t want melting snow and grass clippings to get all over your cargo area. With its low-to-ground loading, Hitch Basket is the perfect solution for hauling heavy, messy or large cargo.
It's made from the same durable material as Roof Basket, so you don’t have to worry about it breaking down over time. This hitch-mounted workhorse holds up to 500 lbs., making it easy to haul coolers, unwieldy bags of mulch or water softener salt, dripping snowblowers or anything else that’s dirty, bulky or awkward to lift into your cargo space.

Roof Basket is ideal for storing luggage and oversized items to provide more space inside the vehicle for passengers without having to stash suitcases around people. It makes traveling more comfortable with extra space to stretch out inside the vehicle, while still providing easy access to rooftop gear when needed. Hitch Basket is a powerhouse for handling messy and heavy items that either won’t fit inside the vehicle or will get the cargo area dirty. It offers low-to-ground loading, so you don’t have to lift cargo into the rear of your vehicle, which helps save your back. Use one or both to maximize your hauling capacity — let Roof Basket hold your luggage and camping chairs, and stash your cooler and firewood for the campfire on Hitch Basket. Both give you the versatility to haul anything you need.
