Design of a Modern Dog Bowl
Just over 160 years ago, dog owners were still feeding their furry friends scraps from the table. It wasn’t until 1860 that modern technology allowed for the development of the first commercially available dog biscuit. Our understanding of animal science and nutrition has continued to evolve, and we’re constantly learning new information on what’s best for our pets. While much research has gone into improving the quality and safety of what our pets eat, the research into how they eat is just now catching up.
With pet health and safety in mind, WeatherTech has developed the Pet Feeding System. This high-quality solution is designed to ease the process of daily feeding for dogs and cats while helping keep them safe and healthy.
Customized Elevated Design
Constantly reaching down during mealtime can strain your pet’s neck, causing discomfort and potential health issues. That’s why we designed the Pet Feeding System to lift their food to a proper height for a safer, more comfortable mealtime. Available in a low or high option, ranging from a 3” to 14” height, you can find the size that best suits your dog so they don’t have to strain their neck — simply measure from the floor to the top of your pet's shoulders to find their correct size with the sizing chart found below the bowl selection.
Elevated dog bowls can aide with common health issues such as:
- Many dogs with osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia or other joint conditions find discomfort when bending over to eat due to pain or soreness in their muscles and joints. The elevated pet feeder reduces some of this pain and stress by bringing the bowl closer to their natural standing position and promotes better posture for your pup.
- Another common issue that veterinarians come across is poor digestion. If a dog is uncomfortable when eating from a low level and straining their neck, they may find themselves rushing through mealtime, causing indigestion. When choosing the best height, the Pet Feeding System raises your pet’s head above their stomach for a much more comfortable experience, encouraging them to eat at a slower pace.
- When dogs eat from the floor, their head is facing down towards their feet, making some dogs feel territorial and possessive because they cannot see anyone that may be approaching. This can lead to aggression when other people or pets come near their food bowl. Raising the bowl can give them a better view to help mitigate these aggressive tendencies.
Ergonomic Bowl Design
Working with animal scientists, WeatherTech assessed the most comfortable shape for a pet’s feeding experience and health. The elongated, tear-drop shaped bowl is designed around your pet’s snout and provides natural, strain-free access to their food and water. This angled bowl design allows your pet to take their time while eating and really enjoy their mealtime – all the while reducing strain, gas/bloating and potential messes, making for a cleaner, healthier eating environment. And the Pet Feeding System is available in a double or single bowl design so you can purchase only what your furry friend needs.
Made to Eliminate Mess & Clean Easily
The sloped surface of the bowl stand works with the outer lip barrier of the mat to keep food and water on the mat and off of the floor. And all three separate pieces of the Pet Feeding System are 100% dishwasher safe.
Designed With Pet Health in Mind
The high-quality materials used to create the Pet Feeding System were carefully chosen with the health and safety of your pet in mind. Made in the USA from ultra-tough stainless steel or BPA-free plastic, both bowl options are 100% non-toxic and NSF certified to be free of lead, radiation, mercury, cadmium and other toxins. This means they’re human food grade bowls! The plastics used in creating the stand and mat are FDA approved, featuring both antifungal and anti-microbial additives to provide a safe, germ-resistant eating environment for your pet.
From the safe and healthy configuration of the bowl and stand to the mess-containing features of the mat, WeatherTech’s Pet Feeding System has set the standard for the modern dog bowl design.
